Ziyu Zhang is a PhD candidate in Translation Studies at University of Glasgow, funded by China Scholarship Council. Her dissertation explores the multifaceted roles and functions of silence, with a particular emphasis on its use in the radio plays of Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter. Ziyu aims to generate fresh insights into the interpretations of silence and contribute to the methodologies for understanding the silenced messages in radio dramas. Ziyu holds a Master’s degree in Translation Studies from the Joint
Graduate School of Nankai University and University of Glasgow, and a Bachelor’s in Translation Studies from Minzu University of China.
